Meet the instructor

Andre Kikunaga-Sensei (blue gi) with Professor Henry Akins.

Andre Kikunaga 菊永アンドレ

Andre Kikunaga is a lifelong martial artist and the lead instructor at Kikunaga Martial Arts in Toronto, Ontario. He is a certified Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation (JJGF) Educational Unit member, teaching under the lineage of Master Rickson Gracie. 


Professional Background


Expertise: He has extensive training in Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Aikido, Karate (Kudo and Okinawan), Kenjutsu, Koryu Jujutsu (traditional samurai Jujutsu), Jeet Kune Do, and Southern Shaolin Kung Fu.


Teaching Philosophy: His primary focus is on character development, anti-bullying, and building confidence in children through martial arts.


Education & Locations: He has lived and trained in Japan, Brazil, and Canada. 


Andre continues to polish his knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by training under Professor Pablo Flores of BJJ United, as well as Judo under Senseis Elmer Gale and Jesse Brown of Ronin Judo & Sumo Club. 


Andre's main passion is to teach martial arts to his students and watch them improve their confidence and develop their characters. 


Andre's main life goal is to stop fellow warriors' suffering with love, compassion and martial arts.
